Is this the same soup as the restaurant?
In order to manufacture a shelf stable soup, the canned soup is slightly different than the restaurant soup. However, our current soup is based on the restaurant recipe and Andersen's Restaurant is still selling our soup.

Are you associated with the Andersen's Restaurant?
No. We purchased the recipe and packaging from Robert Andersen in the 70's.

Grocer use to carry soup but no longer carries it - where can I purchase
We suggest going to store manager and requesting product by name. Store can place a special order if the Buyer has not authorized the flavor requested. Or contact Pea Soup Andersen for mail order. You can also view our store locator or purchase online.

How to read code?
The date code displayed on our products is a best used by date. This means that in order to experience optimal color, flavor, aroma and texture the product should be consumed prior to the end of the month displayed on the product. For example, in order to experience optimal quality a product with a date code that reads 11/2007, it should be consumed prior to the end of November of the year 2007.

Expiration Date?
The shelf life of unopened Anderson Soup is two years. In order to experience optimal color, flavor, aroma and texture the product should be consumed prior to the end of the month displayed on the product.

Salt level of soup
The level of salt in Anderson's soups is in line with other major brands of soup in the USA. The level of saltiness is a matter of personal taste.

Is it Gluten Free?
Anderson Tomato Soup contains gluten. Anderson Pea, Pea & Bacon, and Lentil do not contain gluten.

Was the recipe changed?
No the recipe hasn't changed.

Is there pepper in the soup?
Yes

Is there MSG?
We do not add any MSG to our products. There are some ingredients which naturally contain MSG such as hydrolyzed vegetable protein.

List of allergens.
The food allergens are listed on the label. Lentil soup contains milk, Tomato soup contains wheat. Pea soup and Pea & Bacon soup contains no food allergens.

Is the product hydrolyzed?
No

Do you have a low-sodium product available?
Not currently. We have looked at development of a low sodium product in the past but have not been able to develop a product that is low in sodium and perceived by the consumer to taste good.

What is liquid sugar?
Liquid sugar is a mixture of sugar and water.

Is the product dairy free?
Lentil soup contains milk. All others flavor do not contain milk.

Carrots are listed as an ingredient - and I didn't have any carrots in my soup. Why?
Due to the aseptic processing process carrots are pureed and may not be visible.

Do you have a condensed soup?
No

Do you have a frozen soup?
No

Is this available in #10 cans?
No

Lentil was too spicy. Why?
The Lentil soup is spicier than the other flavors but the perception of the level of spiciness is a matter of personal taste.

Tomato soup was too sweet. Why?
The level is sweetness is a matter of personal taste. What may be too sweet for some may not be sweet enough for others.

Are your soups vegetarian?
All are vegetarian with the exception of the Pea with Bacon.

Do your soups contain yeast extracts?
Yes. Only our lentil soup does not contain yeast extracts.
